CLC EFFORTS

Currently, here are a few of our on-going efforts for (2026/27):

  • Annual Cree Language Forum

The objective and purpose of this event is to strengthen, revitalize and maintain the existing work being done on the Cree Language while introducing the modern ways through AI, technologies and innovation that provide us more options to practise and preserve the language. This forum invites language & cultural coordinators, daycare educators, teachers, language experts & enthusiasts to come together to share ideas, form collaboration work, innovative ways to save/teach our language and that will mobilize communities to start their Cree Language Plans and Programming. Ultimately, this event will give attendees a great sense of the state of the language and learn about existing language efforts and materials available, participate in discussions, and have a chance to build new working relationships/friendships

  • Language Programs and classes

The intention for the Cree Language programs is to create an initiative for increasing our language to be spoken and used. We have multiple projects for the people to elevate their language skills in speaking and comprehension. What we have to offer is Cree conversation posters, Cree Youtube video series in all three dialects (Northern, Southern, and Inland), and Language Contests during Cree Language month (March). Stories and songs translated into Cree.

  • Quarterly Newsletter

The quarterly newsletter was developed to update the people on our current updates and development under our team’s progress with Cree Language. We use modern technology to create easier access to our Culture and heritage to keep our language growing. In addition, we announce our future events in the coming months as well in the newsletters.
